Government confirms Year 9 and 10 students will be awarded GCSEs
The government has confirmed that Year 9 and 10 students who were due to sit GCSE exams this summer will be awarded calculated grades by Ofqual.
This is good news as it means that Year 9 and 10 students will not have to sit additional examinations next year and will receive a GCSE grade for subjects due to be examined this year in the usual way on results day in August.
Year 9 will receive a grade for their GCSE in RE and Year 10 will receive a grade for their MFL GCSE and for the optional subject they were taking.
Please note that we are duty bound by government to keep all grading and assessment information confidential and are not able to share this with students or families. For this reason, please do not ask staff to share predicted or teacher assessed grades. Grades will be awarded based on statistical calculations made by Ofqual, the exams regulator. A message from Ofqual to GCSE and A Level students due to take exams this summer is attached below.
