Library

The Library at Greenford High School is for all students to use. When students join Greenford High School, they automatically become a member of the library. They are given a barcode sticker, which is stuck on the front of their planner - this barcode is their library card. When students want to borrow a book they must bring their planners and the book to the librarians, who will scan the barcodes. The date when the book is due back will always be stamped in the library book.

Students can check our library catalogue and if there is a book they want to read but it is out on loan then they can reserve it.

Year 7 students can borrow up to two books at a time for three weeks at a time. Year 8 students can borrow up to three books at a time for three weeks at a time. After this all students must either return or renew the books.

Late returns

Once a book is borrowed from the library it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that it is looked after and returned on time. Fines on overdue books are charged at 2p per book per day, up to a maximum of 50p per book. Any lost books must be paid for.

The Librarians

The school librarians are Mrs Grundy and Mrs Secombe.

Accelerated Reader

All Year 7 and 8 students have Accelerated Reader lessons. This is a programme where pupils read a book and then take a quiz on it to test their understanding. All Year 7s are given guidelines to help them choose the most appropriate book for their reading age. All Accelerated Reader books have points, and prizes and achievement points are given out to students who do well in their quizzes. Certificates are also awarded to students for every 100 points they achieve.
