Children of keyworkers can attend school but only if absolutely necessary (if their parents need to work to support the fight against Covid-19 and there is nobody else to look after them). The safest place for all children is at home. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson’s guidance is clear: “You should only send your child to school if you have to, because your work is critical to our COVID-19 response. If you are able to keep your child at home, you should.”

Children with an ECHP and vulnerable children can also attend school. Parents who are keyworkers may need to show evidence of their job and we are under obligation to send home any child who should not be in school, in order to support social distancing. All students have been provided with online work which can be accessed from our school closure website on any device. Any problems with passwords / access should be reported to our IT Helpdesk.

1. If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.
2. If a child needs specialist support (EHCP), is vulnerable (social care involvement) or has a parent who is a critical worker (keyworker), then educational provision will be available for them.
3. Parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions.
4. Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.

Government guidance on Coronavirus

Please note the latest government guidance stating that if anyone in your household has either a new, continuous cough or a high temperature (above 37.8C) then ALL members of the household must stay at home for 14 days. We ask all parents to follow this guidance and will expect any staff in the same situation to do the same.
