Greenford students celebrate 2024 Media Awards
Greenford High School Media students celebrated their Media Awards this week – the school’s version of the Hollywood Oscars or Emmy Awards.
The sparkling ceremony saw staff and students gather to celebrate the superb television productions produced by A Level and GCSE Media Studies students. Last year’s projects included TV drama extracts in the fantasy genre for GCSE while A Level students created crime dramas.
As ever, the students were decked out in finery as the spotlight shone on the recipients of the prestigious awards. Categories included Best Cinematography, Editing and Production Design as well as the People’s Choice awards voted for by Greenford students in their tutor groups last week.
The final awards of Best Production at GCSE and A Level were awarded to Tulika for Bloom and Riya for Without A Trace. The People’s Choice awards were collected by Dyari for his GCSE drama extract Like A Paladin and Viraj for the brilliant A Level crime drama Intentions.
Greenford High School Head of Media Will Halsey said: “The Media Awards is one of the great nights in the Greenford calendar. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible creativity in our school community but also to acknowledge the huge amount of hard work that goes into these coursework projects. The standard of the work on display was superb and that is testament to the work ethic of our Media students.
Headteacher Mia Pye said: “It was another fantastic Greenford night and the quality of the work on the big screen was excellent. This year at Greenford we are focusing on taking pride in our community and the Media Awards captures this perfectly.
“It was a pleasure to see students being celebrated by their peers and teachers and congratulations to all of our winners and nominees.”
