Intervention and Study Club
At Greenford High School we are determined to give every student the opportunity to progress and achieve to the best of their ability. To help students accelerate their progress we run a series of initiatives after school, on Saturdays and during school holidays.
Saturday and holiday sessions
Students at Greenford High School are privileged to receive Saturday and Holiday intervention sessions by your subject specialist teachers free of charge. Please familiarise yourself with the points below which outline the procedure for these key revision intervention sessions.
- Students will receive an intervention letter from their subject teacher.
- We also ask students to Inform their parents/carers of the date and timing of any upcoming sessions and return a signed a permission slip where applicable.
- We will remind of Saturday sessions via text on Friday evenings.
- Morning sessions usually run from 9am -12pm. Afternoon sessions usually run from 12.30pm - 3.30pm. Students may only be called in for a morning or afternoon session but on occasion they may need to attend all-day sessions or two different sessions on the same day.
- Please ask your child to arrive 5 -10 mins before the session and sign in at the register in main reception.
- Students do not have to wear uniform but please make sure they are wearing something appropriate for an academic session.
- Students will have to buy/consume lunch off site - there is no provision for lunch during Saturday or holiday sessions. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch or spending money with them. Students cannot stay on site (unsupervised e.g. in the playground or MUGAs) due to contractors working on site.
- Please make sure your child has the correct exercise books and equipment for their session on the day.
Study Club
Study Club is a Greenford institution – a quiet space for GCSE students to complete purposeful homework and revision activities after school Monday-Thursday. Expertly overseen by the Key Stage 4 team, students who are in danger of missing their GCSE targets are placed in compulsory Study Club in order to ensure every student achieves as well as they possibly can by the end of Year 11.
Study Club also gives the opportunity for subject teachers to withdraw students and run bespoke revision and coursework sessions with students after school. In some cases, this will involve the majority of Year 11; other sessions are targeted at students who need a little extra help with specific topics or skills.
Study Club timings
Study Club runs between 3pm – 4.45pm Monday-Thursday. Students are provided with a drink and a snack and are also welcome to bring their own food. However, they are not permitted to leave the school site to buy food before Study Club.
Parents will be informed if students miss Study Club as this is a vital part of helping every student maximise their potential.
