From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your patience regarding our closure on Monday. Unfortunately, due to a number of power cuts in the area, our fire alarms needed to be reset and retested and it was obviously not safe for us to have students on site until that was resolved.

Thank you to those parents and carers who are no longer dropping off or picking up their children near the Lady Margaret Road entrance by using the access road at the back of the shops, or the access road in front of the shops. Please remember that the vast majority of our students walk to school and it is not safe for them to be surrounded by cars as they try to make their way into the school gates.

As we race through to half term, we continue to offer lots of support for students, particularly those year groups who are heading towards exams. These include interventions, workshops, motivational speakers, study skills sessions and ongoing support from teachers. Parents' evenings are also an important part of our support for your child, and we look forward to seeing all of you there when it is your child's turn.

Our next Parent Connect will be after half term. We break up on Friday 9th February at 3pm and return to school on Monday 19th February 2024.

Post-16 STEM Project - Over the last few weeks, the Post-16 Team have been taking a group of students to Notting Hill and Ealing High School to work with other schools in the area on presentations around all topics to do with STEM. Here are some of the team pictured here - well done for representing GHS so well!

Chess Champions! We have seen two teams of students from Year 8 -12 compete in the National Schools Chess Championships. Our B Team played against Harrow School, & our A Team beat a strong team from Hammersmith Academy, progressing to the regional semi-finals - well done!

A new sporting opportunity!

If you are interested in getting involved in a new venture, Ealing Eagles Ball Hockey Club run a club on Saturday mornings at Greenford Sports Centre. Ball Hockey is like ice-hockey, without the ice… And, the club are extending a special invitation to the students at Greenford High School! As a special incentive, our students are being offered 3 free trial sessions - just mention ‘Greenford High’ when booking. If you would like more information, look at www.ealingeaglesballhockey.co.uk or email  the club at westlondonballhockey@gmail.com.

Parental Engagement Workshops in the Community

Remember that there are still a number of workshops that are being run by different community groups for different reasons across the borough. Please look here for the link and we hope you find something that you would like to attend. Although some of the events have taken place, there is still plenty to come and some very useful links here.
